Underfloor Heating
The warm flow of underfloor heating is just one step away
Underfloor heating is the most efficient, cleanest and smartest way to heat your home, gently warming the people and objects in the room from the ground up. This radiant heat is far more effective than convection radiators and provides unrivalled levels of comfort for any new home or renovation project.
Unrivalled knowledge
Our system designers are some of the most experienced in the industry. We take a pragmatic approach to design, making systems run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Solutions for every project
We offer a wide range of high-quality systems to suit all project types. Ask us about low profile systems that can be as thin as 25mm.
Energy saving
A well designed underfloor heating system will save you money on your heating bills.
What is underfloor heating?
- Underfloor heating is a much more energy efficient way of heating your home. The system uses strong and flexible tubing that is embedded in the floor of your property. With no radiators or pipes to get in the way, underfloor heating offers numerous advantages over other forms of central heating.
- The best underfloor heating solution for you will depend on a range of factors including your project type, your current or desired heating system, energy source, floor type and room size.
- Minimum 25% more efficient that radiators
- Low energy = low cost = low carbon
- Maximises wall and floor space in your home
- Luxurious feeling of warm floors
- Weather compensation controls available
How does underfloor heating work?
- Underfloor heating is the best way to heat a room from the ground up, with no cold spots and no draughts. It works by turning the whole floor into one big heat emitter, as opposed to radiators that waste energy bu just heating the air around them.
- Underfloor heating is more energy efficient than radiators because it uses water at lower temperatures, typically 45°C or 50°C, which reduces energy consumption, lowers emissions and cuts costs. This works with all heating systems, but especially with heat pumps which naturally operate at these temperatures.
Underfloor heating design
-
Our design process is based on an analysis of the fabric of the building and a room by room heat loss calculation to ensure that the system is perfectly calibrated for each property and each floor type. With underfloor heating your home can embody the ‘Goldilocks effect’ where your home is not too hot, not too cold, but just right…
We offer a range different types of underfloor heating systems to suit almost all room types including low profile and untra low profile systems that can be installed in top of existing floors.
- Detailed heat loss calculations accompany every design
- Bespoke design for each use ensures systems are optimised for efficiency.
- We achieve the ‘Golidilocks effect’ with the right amount of heat with minimal energy use.
- Low profile systems can be as thin as 25mm and can be laid on existing floors
- We calculate the exact amount of tubing and materials required, any excess is kept to a minimum – reducing waste.
The advantages of underfloor heating
- There are a wide range of benefits to installing UFH in your home. From energy efficiency to a luxury feel, we take a look at the biggest advantages of heated floors.
Flexibility & Durability
Underfloor heating is a durable and flexible solution for your home. The pipes typically come with a 50 year guarantee. It can be installed in any property type, from a new build to an extension or renovation. You can even have underfloor heating upstairs!
Warm, heated floor
Underfloor heating offers a warm alternative to radiators. UFH systems produce an even warmth, eliminating cold spots and draughts common with radiators. The floors feel warm underfoot, and many of our customers report a sense of transformation in the feel of their home.
25-40% more efficient
Underfloor heating is one of the most efficient methods of heating a home. It uses lower flow temperatures than a radiator system, using less energy in the process. When paired with a heat pump, efficiency increases even further. Overall efficiency is around 25% more with underfloor heating and up to 40% more efficient when paired with a heat pump!!
Space saving & discreet
UFH is perfect for open plan living, barn conversions, modern buildings, new renovations and smaller homes. For rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms where space is at a premium underfloor heating is ‘invisible’, providing comfort without the clutter of radiators or controls.
Safe & healthy
Underfloor heating is the perfect option for all year round comfort, control and safety. With no exposed hot or sharp edges you can be sure its the safest option for young children and the elderly. It’s also great for allergy sufferers as it provides warmth free from draughts and dust movements that can aggravate certain conditions.
Kind to the environment
Underfloor heating is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. As a low-temperature heating system, it uses less energy than traditional high temperature systems like radiators. This means you can significantly reduce your fossil fuel use – even more so when installed alongside a heat pump.
Underfloor heating options by project type
- One of the main factors that can affect your choice of underfloor heating system is your project type.
Underfloor heating for new builds
Underfloor heating is fast and simple to install, ideal for
new builds and is easily scheduled, typically after the stud
work and before plaster boarding.
In this case the pipe work is normally
laid directly on top the insulation and a concrete ‘screed’
is poured on top. The screed then acts as a thermal store
gently releasing heat into the home.
Underfloor heating for renovations
A complete downstairs refurbishment is the perfect
opportunity to incorporate underfloor heating.
Many customers are extending their homes and
use new a combination of screed floor in the extended
part of their build and low profile UFH in the older
parts of their homes.
